David Skidmore
David is a self taught artist, working in many mediums, from detailed pencil work to panoramic drawings and paintings. All inspired by our natural world, portraying diverse subjects, from the African plains, to the vast oceans to stunning Scottish vistas. Movement and light are his driving influences, capturing one or the other is a joy, when they both come together, it’s magical.
Whales :-
David was looking to capture the grace, movement and social behaviour of these enormous, majestic and gentle humpback whales. Migrating 25,000km each year and found in oceans and seas around the world, David sees them as the true global ambassadors for marine life and environment. He was lucky enough to see humpbacks off the coast of California, and he would describe the experiences as ‘once seen never forgotten’.
David was a finalist in the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of The Year 2021, and also in 2019.
He was an invitational artist in the Sketch For Survival Exhibition and auction, raising funds for wildlife conservation.
