"I’m inspired by the sea and everything surrounding it. My interest in birds was initially in the shore birds which walked or flew into my line of vision while I was sketching by the sea. I have a huge interest in gardening & wildlife is part & parcel of the garden. As I learned to care for the sparrows & blackbirds I began to notice & enjoy the variety of birds that shared my garden. My garden birds have become tolerant of my presence in the garden over the years and I am often lucky enough to be able to sit out in the garden & watch them going about their lives. I try to capture character of the way the birds behave and I am captured by the beautiful colours & shapes they make.
I try to use colour, light and composition to show the true nature of what I see around me. I have exhibited extensively in Scotland as well as nationally & internationally. I have received international awards as well as having pictures included in numerous public collections. I am originally from Caithness but have lived & worked in Fife for many years."
