Iain was born in Stirling, and after pursuing a business career with twenty years or so based in London, returned to Scotland, initially to Inverness-shire and then to Perthshire where he now resides.
On returning to Scotland Iain reassessed his life and decided to renew his love of painting, having studied art in his early years. On completion of full time studies at the University of the Highlands and Islands where he graduated in Fine Art, Ian now produces a variety of works from imaginative landscapes to figurative and abstract work. Many of his works relate to his love of Perthshire, Argyll and the West Coast of Scotland. Using a variety of mediums, Iain’s paintings combine the use of simple line and form with strong vibrant colours applied through bold uncompromising strokes.
Iain’s works are owned by many private collectors both in the UK and abroad. He has held several solo and joint exhibitions including the National Trust for Scotland.
Iain’s influences include many Scottish Artists including Joan Eardley and Hamish Macdonald.
