Since 2006 Debbie has been producing textile art for the wall. The final work is generally inspired by the Highlands in which she now lives. She is particularly interested in the impact that man has on his surrounding landscape. Houses, trees, farmland, boat and sea all serve to shape and create Debbie's scenery. Her use of colour is sometimes subtle, often vibrant. Debbie enjoys using pattern in repeat to create balance. The work is then developed using layering techniques. First paint, then collage, fabric, stitch, (machine and hand) and embellishment. The results are works that although created for the wall have several dimensions to them.
